Greensea versus Native Software Application for Sonar
On Mission Specialist systems, you can run the sonar in the native software application.
The reasons to do this might include:
- Use the native application controls or settings.
- View the sonar in a separate window.
Requirements:
- External Windows Computer with a wired Ethernet adapter
- Blueprint Subsea ViewPoint Software
- Ethernet Cable
Procedures:
- Download and install the ViewPoint software from BluePrint Subsea on the Windows computer.
- Connect the Windows computer to the Control Console using the Ethernet cable.
- Set the Windows computer IP address to 192.168.1.3 (This is the typical default address – If the sonar is not set up as standard at 192.168.1.45, the computer IP will need to be compatible with the sonar IP)
- Turn on the Control Console and the ROV, but do not start the Greensea software.
- Start the ViewPoint software on the Windows computer and connect to the Sonar.
- Start the Greensea software on the control console.
- Enter the high-level diagnostics by typing Alt +3 on the control console keyboard.
- Select the Process View tab on the left. Click on the Enable Editing button in the upper right.
- Find the row with openfls_oculus entry in the first column.
- Find the Keep Alive entry in the openfls_oculus row, double click on Keep Alive and change it to Stop.
- Click outside of the chart, then click on the Apply Changes button in the lower left.
- Click on the Enable Editing button to disable it.
- Exit the high-level diagnostics by typing Alt + 1 on the control console keyboard.
- The system is now ready to operate.
Limitations:
- The Oculus Sonar cannot work in Greensea on the Operator Console and ViewPoint on the Windows Computer at the same time.
- The sonar will not be recorded and cannot be played back in Greensea. It can be recorded / played back in ViewPoint.
- The sonar image cannot be overlaid on the Map View in Greensea.
Note: If you plan to use the external sonar application regularly, you can change the configuration file so that it you do not have to modify the Keep Alive parameter every time you start. Contact VideoRay Customer Care for more information.
